HEALTH & SAFETY
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT AND CHARITIES
As an apprentice some 40 years ago, Bob Heron learned his trade as an electrician, together with the importance of hard work, honesty, doing what you say you will and delivering work to the highest standards for your customers.
These values have stayed with Bob throughout his working life and are at the core of what Heron Contracting is all about. As Managing Director his main priority at Heron Contracting is to ensure that everyone working in the business, no matter what their role, works to these principles:
· Complete jobs to the highest standard
· Honesty and integrity in everything we do
· Take pride in the quality of our workmanship
· Treat our customers and our work colleagues with respect
"At Heron, our success depends on how we deal with our customers and our employees. It’s not just about the quality of work we deliver, it’s also about how we deliver it. Building long term relationships is crucial, so good customer service is at the heart of our business. It’s also why I believe in investing in training and supporting our own apprenticeships – I benefitted from this when I was starting out in my working life and I want my staff to have the same valuable skills for their future.” Bob Heron
Health and Safety is of paramount importance. We are fully committed to ensuring the health, safety and welfare of all our employees and others who may be affected by our operations.
Heron Contracting Ltd is accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, OFTEC, Gas Safe and the recognised industry trade association NICEIC.
Our engineers have received asbestos awareness training and hold UKATA approved certificate of training to enable them to carry out non-licensable work with asbestos including notifiable non-licensed work (NNLW).
Our close working relationship with local firm Richmond Safety Services helps to ensure our health and safety needs are current and updated regularly to comply with HSE guidelines.
We retain a member of staff to train our engineers in Health & Safety and we are working to achieve Nebosh standard - a general certificate which is the most popular and widely held health and safety qualification in the UK. This qualification will give a greater understanding of general health and safety issues allowing us to deal in house with a greater proportion of our company’s health & safety needs and issues for the benefit of employees and our customers.
We believe that our company is part of the community. Our ethos is to support local businesses wherever possible, to recruit locally and to support local charities.
We also recognise that vulnerable children in socially and economically disadvantaged parts of the world should be supported wherever possible.
